On 5 February 2026, at the Department of Reproductive Biotechnology and Cryoconservation of the National Research Institute of Animal Production in Balice, another educational workshop for the youngest participants was held.
The classes were attended by children aged 7–12 participating in the “Winter Break in the City 2026” day camp organized by the Culture and Sports Centre in Krzeszowice. The aim of the meeting was to familiarize participants with issues related to natural sciences through practical classes, demonstrations, and experience-based education.
During the workshops, the young participants immersed themselves in the fascinating world of beekeeping. They learned about the important role bees play in our lives and the environment, what the daily work of a beekeeper looks like, and the structure of a bee, a hive, and an apiary. There were also interesting facts about the bee community, in which each bee has its own unique task. In the practical part, the children could see how candles are made from natural beeswax and then made their own candles from wax foundation. The demonstration using liquid nitrogen was also very popular. The participants learned about its applications and took part in impressive experiments, which provided a lot of excitement and delight. At the end of the workshop, the children visited the Aquaculture Centre of the National Research Institute of Animal Production together. It was a day full of learning, fun, and unforgettable experiences. The meeting was characterized by a high level of engagement among participants and interest in the topics presented.
