The launch meeting of the “European Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare (EUP AH&W)” took place in Brussels on 26–27 February 2024. This is a new research and innovation initiative supporting the control of infectious diseases and the promotion of animal welfare. The activities of this Partnership are co-financed by the European Commission. The initiative brings together 90 institutions from 24 countries, both EU and non-EU. The EUP AH&W includes 56 scientific institutions, 30 funding organizations and other bodies such as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), among others. Staff from the National Research Institute of Animal Production have been involved in four of the seventeen EUP AH&W actions: SOA13 – Assessment of positive welfare, SOA16 – Reinforcement of animal resilience through fundamental research for animal feeding and breeding, SOA17 – Animal welfare & sustainability, SOA20 – The role of immune system of food producing animals. During the meeting, the National Research Institute of Animal Production was represented by Dorota Godyń and Anna Orchel-Szeląg.
