On 20 August 2024, the National Research Institute of Animal Production hosted a delegation of representatives from Ukraine and Moldova. The visit was part of the implementation of an initiative by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski entitled “Summer school for representatives of Moldova and Ukraine”. The aim of the undertaking was primarily to present the effects of Poland’s preparations for accession and our membership of the EU in various areas related to the development of the agricultural sector. Delegates taking part in the “Summer School” include employees of agricultural departments, representatives of administration and other institutions involved in the pre-accession process in both countries.
The guests were officially welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Tomasz Jacek, Ph.D., and a lecture presenting general information about our institution and the various fields of scientific activity was presented by the Deputy Director for Science, Prof. Sylwester Świątkiewicz, Ph.D. The Institute’s activities in the field of Conservation of Genetic Resources and development over the past 20 years were discussed by Agnieszka Chełmińska, Ph.D. The operation of the Bank of Biological Materials and cooperation with European counterparts was presented by Ewa Sosin, Ph.D. The Institute’s cooperation with EIP-AGRI operational groups was presented by Jarosław Marycz.
Delegates also had the opportunity to learn about the activities of our laboratories. Klaudia Pawlina-Tyszko, Ph.D., showed the guests around the Laboratory of the Department of Molecular Biology, while Marcin Samiec, Ph.D., Prof. of the NRIAP, and Eng. Lechosław Gajda talked about the work carried out in the Laboratory of the Department of Reproduction Biotechnology and Cryopreservation.
The project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in cooperation with the Kraków Agricultural Extension Centre, the National Support Centre for Agriculture, and the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture.
