On 6 March 2025, a seminar on sustainable development in horse breeding was held at the Warmia and Mazury Agricultural Advisory Centre based in Olsztyn.

The main aim of the meeting was to introduce horse breeders and supporters to the subject of conservation programmes for their native breeds. Iwona Tomczyk-Wrona, PhD Eng., from the Department of Farm Animal Biodiversity Conservation and Horse Breeding of the National Research Institute of Animal Production comprehensively discussed the past, present and future of programmes for the conservation of primitive and noble breeds of horses, while Grażyna Polak, PhD Eng., presented the topic of “Polish Sztumski and Sokólski cold-blooded horses yesterday, today and tomorrow”.

The whole meeting was concluded with a fruitful discussion, during which topics relating to the assessment of horses and the problems of gestation and parturition in mares were discussed.
