On 25 May 2025 in Racławice, the National Research Institute of Animal Production acted as a partner in an event that was a unique way of honouring the Polish countryside, its traditions, and its rich agricultural heritage. The “Farmer of the Year” competition is an initiative that goes beyond the competitive dimension – it is an expression of deep appreciation for the hard work, commitment, and unwavering attachment to the land that accompany the work of Polish farmers every day.
This year’s edition of the event was particularly festive. The celebrations began with a Holy Mass in the parish church in Racławice, followed by a colourful procession to the monument of Bartosz Głowacki. The programme included the election of the “Farmer of the Year” and competitions with the participation of Rural Housewives’ Clubs. A special element of the event was a spectacular reenactment of the Battle of Racławice, presented under the slogan “They Feed and Defend” by reenactment groups from all over the country.
During the event, the Director of the National Research Institute of Animal Production, Tomasz Jacek, Ph.D. Eng., gave a speech in which he emphasized the fundamental importance of history, tradition, and agriculture for national identity and rural development.
