The National Research Institute of Animal Production is a partner of the Food Economy Forum, which will be held as part of the 34th Economic Forum in Karpacz on 2–4 September 2025.

For years, this prestigious event has been the largest platform in Central and Eastern Europe for discussions on the economy, politics, and security. This year’s edition will feature a debate on the future of the agri-food sector, one of the key branches of the Polish economy.

The aim of the Food Economy Forum is to develop diagnoses concerning the shape and prospects for the development of the food, trade, and HoReCa sectors. Meetings within this track will be an opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions between representatives of various segments of Polish agriculture.

The event is held under the patronage of:

  • the National Research Institute of Animal Production,
  • the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture,
  • the National Support Centre for Agriculture
  • the Main Inspectorate of Agricultural and Food Quality.

During the panels and discussions, participants will focus on the most important challenges facing the industry. Development prospects and potential threats will be discussed. Representatives of individual links in the food supply chain in Poland will present their opinions. An important point will be the debate on the experiences of 2025 and forecasts for the coming years.

One of the key points of the programme will be the panel: “Poland’s food security in the context of the possible accession of new countries to the EU – opportunities and threats”. The discussion will take place on 2 September 2025, as part of the Food Economy Forum, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The National Research Institute of Animal Production will be represented by Tomasz Jacek, PhD Eng., Director of the Institute, who will share his knowledge and experience on the role of science and innovation in building the resilience of Polish agriculture to upcoming changes. The panel will be moderated by Dr Sławomir Kalinowski, Prof. of IRWiR PAN – Head of the Department of Economics at the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences, who will present the context of the transformation of the European food economy to the participants.

The partnership of the National Research Institute of Animal Production in the Food Economy Forum emphasizes our role in creating a space for dialogue between science, business, and administration. The joint diagnoses and recommendations developed during the debates will be of significant importance not only for the future of Polish agriculture, but also for the entire European food sector.
