On 9–10 September 2023, the 31st Agricultural Exhibition – Agropromotion 2023 was held in Stary Sącz. The motto of this year’s edition, organized on the premises of the John Paul II Diocesan Pilgrimage Centre, was “Mountain Product – a Brand of the Region”.
The event was organized by the Małopolska Agricultural Advisory Centre based in Karniowice, and co-organized by the National Research Institute of Animal Production and the Hugo Kołłątaj University of Agriculture in Kraków.
More than 300 exhibitors from all over Poland and abroad took part in this largest exhibition in southern Poland. Numerous events took place during the event, including an exhibition of native breeds of animals prepared by the National Research Institute of Animal Production and goose and lamb cutting demonstrations. Visitors were also treated to a very interesting programme, including culinary workshops, demonstrations, panel discussions with experts and concerts. Special shows were also organized, such as a demonstration of sheep shearing or highland cheese making. One of the main special guests at the event was chef Mikołaj Rey.
At the Institute’s stands, visitors tasted products made from raw materials from indigenous breeds: highland cheese made from the milk of Polish Red-and-White cows, lamb meat products and goose meat. In addition, a beef and pork tasting was organized.
Thanks to large video screens placed at many points on the grounds, the Institute’s researchers were able to give a live presentation of the characteristics of native breeds and the benefits of breeding them.
During Agropromotion 2023, a number of competitions linked to agricultural activities were adjudicated. The National Research Institute of Animal Production funded prizes in the following competitions: the provincial stage of the 20th KRUS National Safe Farming Competition, the provincial competition for the Best Agri-tourism Farm and the competition Our Culinary Heritage. Flavours of the Regions.
