On 8–10 May 2025, the National Research Institute of Animal Production participated in the European Congress on Renewal and Rural Development, which took place at the Poznań International Fair. The event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Local Government of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship.
The congress was an opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss challenges and opportunities, and reflect on the future of agriculture and food security. The event programme included plenary sessions and a number of accompanying events, such as conferences, discussion panels, workshops, and presentations at exhibition stands.
The event attracted nearly 4,500 people – participants in panels, debates, and workshops, as well as visitors to the accompanying exhibition. On the one hand, the congress was a space for political discussion about the future of agriculture and rural areas, and on the other, it was a presentation of the richness of Polish folklore and an opportunity to taste excellent traditional food.
Our Institute prepared its stand in the EXPO Zone, where it presented its achievements in the field of breeding and conservation of native livestock breeds. Visitors were also offered a tasting of products certified as “Rasa Rodzima” (Native Breed). These products enjoyed great interest and recognition for their exceptional quality and taste.
During the event, the stand of the National Research Institute of Animal Production was visited by Christophe Hansen, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food. The visit was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Adam Nowak. The guests were welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Tomasz Jacek Ph.D. Eng., together with the Director for Infrastructure, Tomasz Szanser.
The meeting was an excellent opportunity to present the Institute’s achievements, including research projects and activities for the conservation of genetic resources and sustainable agricultural development. Products marked with the Native Breed certificate aroused particular interest, as they not only promote Polish livestock breeds, but also delight with their taste and highest quality.
The presence of representatives of the European Commission and the Polish Ministry of Agriculture was a sign of appreciation for the long-standing activities of the National Research Institute of Animal Production and its key role in the development of innovative, responsible agriculture, both in Poland and throughout Europe.
