We are pleased to announce that the COST Action OC-2024-1-27547 project entitled “European network for animal evolutionary immunology: interlinking laboratory and wildlife infection biology” (EVIM-NET) has been officially approved for implementation!
EVIM-NET is a European research network that aims to bring together previously disparate fields: evolutionary immunology, infection biology, and veterinary and ecological sciences. The project will address the growing threat of infectious diseases – both to human health and food safety, as well as to the protection of endangered wildlife species.
The main objectives of the project are:
- To develop a coherent conceptual approach combining evolutionary ecology and immunology.
- To strengthen cooperation between scientists from different fields through the creation of an interdisciplinary research network.
- To develop standard methods and procedures to support knowledge transfer and joint research.
EVIM-NET will bring together experts in the following fields:
- immunogenomics and bioinformatics (including comparative genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, structural bioinformatics),
- evolutionary analyses (including positive and balanced selection, phylogenetic and phenotypic matching),
- classical functional immunology (in vitro protein testing, immunomonitoring, cellular phenotyping),
- animal sciences and veterinary medicine.
The Department of Animal Molecular Biology represents the National Research Institute of Animal Production in research and international cooperation within the EVIM-NET network.
Congratulations, and we look forward to starting cooperation within this initiative!
