On 24 October 2024, a meeting of beekeepers and entities involved in the implementation of conservation programs for the Central European breed of bees was held in Łomża.

The workshop was attended by representatives of: the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the National Animal Breeding Centre, the Płaska Commune Office, the Podlaskie Local Product Centre, the National Research Institute of Horticulture, and beekeepers from leading, cooperating flocks and the region.

In the first part of the meeting, the subject of experiences from the first year of the reorganization of the genetic resources conservation programs for bee lines: Augustowska, Northern and Kampinos was discussed. The National Animal Breeding Centre presented information on inspections of apiaries included in the conservation program.

In the second part of the meeting, representatives of the Podlaskie Local Product Centre presented a database of Podlasie food producers, where farmers have the opportunity to present their products. In turn, Agnieszka Chełmińska, Ph.D. Eng., from the National Research Institute of Animal Production, familiarized the participants with the subject of product certification with the Rasa Rodzima (Native Breed) mark.

We hope that the fruitful discussion will become an inspiration for further activities in the field of bee genetic resources conservation.
