NRIAP has been re-accredited by ICAR for DNA data interpretation (“ICAR Parentage Analysis Accreditation for DNA Data Interpretation Centres”)

  • News

As of 31 January 2023, the National Research Institute of Animal Production, represented by the Department of Cattle Breeding, has been granted re-accreditation by ICAR (International Committee for Animal Recording) for DNA data interpretation centres (“ICAR Parentage Analysis Accreditation for DNA Data Interpretation Centres”) enabling parentage testing of animals, including cattle based on SNP markers. Thus it has become one of 23 computing centres worldwide and the only one in Poland enabling this type of analysis. A full list of accredited entities can be found on the ICAR website. Obtaining accreditation by the National Research Institute of Animal Production, in accordance with ICAR procedures (two DNA-based services), enables full analysis of pedigrees on both STR markers (realized by the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics) and SNP markers (realized by the Department of Cattle Breeding as part of the genomic evaluation of animals).
