On Sunday, 13 September 2026, Spała will once again host a nationwide harvest celebration. The Polish Harvest Festival will provide an opportunity to express gratitude to farmers for their year-round work, dedication and contribution to ensuring the country’s food security.
The National Research Institute of Animal Production invites everyone to take part in this event, which combines the traditions of the Polish countryside with a showcase of its contemporary achievements. The Polish Harvest Festival is hosted and held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Stefan Krajewski.
A Celebration of Gratitude for Farmers’ Work
For generations, harvest festivals have held a special place in Polish tradition. They symbolise the end of the harvest season, gratitude for the crops gathered and respect for the work of farmers, livestock breeders and everyone involved in Polish agriculture.
The festival also brings local communities together, highlights the importance of the cultural heritage of the Polish countryside and emphasises the role of agriculture in the economy and everyday life.
As Minister Stefan Krajewski emphasises, the organisers are committed to preserving the event’s open and traditional character, keeping it close to farmers, residents and local communities. The Harvest Festival is intended to provide an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the Polish countryside and agriculture.
Nearly a Century of Harvest Festival Tradition in Spała
The history of nationwide harvest celebrations in Spała dates back to 1927, when President of the Republic of Poland Ignacy Mościcki first placed the festivities under his patronage.
During the interwar period, Spała served as a summer residence for Polish presidents and became the venue for some of the country’s most important harvest celebrations.
The last Presidential Harvest Festival before the outbreak of the Second World War was held in Spała in September 1938. The tradition was revived in 2000, and until 2019 the celebrations continued under the patronage of successive Presidents of the Republic of Poland.
In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was relocated to the Presidential Palace in Warsaw.
In 2025, the nationwide harvest celebration returned to Spała, this time as the Polish Harvest Festival organised by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The event attracted thousands of participants, with nearly 90 exhibitors presenting their products, including traditional and regional food specialities and handicrafts.
