On 17-18 May 2023, a conference entitled “Proper system of knowledge and information exchange as a basis for the functioning of modern agriculture” was held at the National Research Institute of Animal Production in Balice, attended by 60 people. Among them were representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Agricultural Advisory Centers, as well as scientific staff of the Institute. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between the Institute and agricultural advisory units – in particular, to intensify the process of transferring knowledge and good practices from the field of science to agricultural practice, in terms of innovations in breeding and livestock production. The conference was opened by the Director of the National Research Institute of Animal Production, Krzysztof Duda, Ph.D., who welcomed all the guests and at the same time thanked them for high attendance of the meeting. On the first day, the research work carried out at the Institute in individual departments of animal breeding and nutrition was discussed. Participants also had the opportunity to taste products derived from the raw material of native breeds of animals: the Puławska pig, the Polish Red-and-White cow, and the old-type Polish Merino. The next day began with a lecture on the protection of genetic resources in Poland. In addition, the Institute’s companies and experimental stations were presented, as well as research work carried out in the field of livestock production organization systems and environmental protection. Representatives of the Departments of Animal Molecular Biology and Reproductive Biotechnology and Cryoconservation presented laboratory research opportunities. The lively discussion crowning the conference testified to the great interest of the participants and was a sign that the programme proposed by the organizers of the meeting met the expectations of the audience.
